Cindy Key Named Chief Nursing Officer of Walker Baptist Medical Center

Walker Baptist Medical Center today announced Cindy Key has been named chief nursing officer (CNO). A nurse executive with more than 35 years’ experience, Key has held a number of managerial and director roles in both private and public healthcare.
Key joined Walker Baptist Medical Center in 2011 following the acquisition of the Alabama Outpatient Surgery Center where she served as manager. She was promoted to Director of Procedural Services, which included the Inpatient OR, Ambulatory Surgery Center, Surgery, Outpatient Procedures and Sterile Processing. As well, Key has held roles as nurse manager of Orthopedics and Director of Maternal/Infant Services. Most recently, she was named interim CNO in May 2018.
Key earned an associate degree in nursing and later a bachelor’s degree in Health Administration from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She will complete her master’s degree this summer.
